DeFeo trial in post
Above • Katco's very own Ronald J. DeFeo takes the stand. The actor spent months researching DeFeo's character on his own in an effort to learn mannerisms and dialect.

Los Angeles, CA - The DeFeo murder trial is taking place again.

No. Ronald DeFeo hasn't won a second bid for a new trial. Instead, Katco's 'Shattered Hopes," documentary, which explores both the crime and punishment of Ronald DeFeo, Jr. has officially put the trial sequences in the can. The trial, wherein crucial pieces were re-enacted, is out of post and the final scoring work is now being completed.

Above • Katco focuses on testimony given by Officer Kenneth Greguski, who was the first Amityville cop to arrive at 112 Ocean Avenue. Greguski testified that he was in charge of the crime scene, which was a fact later used to discredit a Suffolk detective who claimed he had never been in 112 Ocean Avenue when Greguski's log showed otherwise. Above, actors portraying Greguski and DeFeo defense attorney William Weber masterfully recreate actual pages of trial transcript.

Z.L. DeWitt is scoring the documentary for Katco from his San Francisco studio. By the time the trial sequences are complete, more completed portions of the documentary will be sent to San Fran for music and sound work.

Katco anticipates a fall 2007 release for the project.
