Founded
in 1995 by Ryan Katzenbach, Katco set out with one goal:
to present the 'other' often untold side of a story. The
company's first title, which remains in print, Titanic:
Sinking The Myths by D.E. Bristow explored
controversies surrounding the Titanic
disaster. Some have called Bristow's work "the last
book you will ever need to read on the Titanic
disaster." Others have criticized the work, but regardless,
it made people think. It challenged everything previously
written about the disaster.
In
the years that have passed, Katco, as a small press, has
unveiled more books with one common theme: if the subject
matter is thought provoking and provacative, then it belongs
in our catalog. In 2007, Katco, while maintaining the
founding focus of publishing books that tell unique and
interesting stories, will expand into projects of a more
political nature.
In
addition, the company is venturing more than ever into
film. Shattered Hopes, a documentary
investigating the infamous 1974 DeFeo murders in Amityville,
New York is currently in production. A variety of other
comedy, drama and documentary projects have also been
added to the Katco portfolio.
